Temporary Residency
Visitor Visa

A visitor visa (also called a temporary resident visa) is an official document showing that you meet the requirements needed to enter Canada. Unless you are from a visa-exempt country, you will need a visitor visa to enter Canada whether you are coming for tourism, family visit or a short business trip. You may also need one if you’re transiting through a Canadian airport on your way to your final destination.
A visitor visa allows you to legally live in Canada for up to six months at a time. If you would like to extend your stay beyond six months, you need to apply for a visitor record before your temporary resident status expires.

Study Permit

A study permit is a legal document that authorizes a foreign national to engage in academic, professional, vocational or other education or training that is more than six months in duration at a designated learning institution (DLI). (If your course is less than 6 months long, you’ll only need a visitor visa to come to Canada.)
To apply for a study permit, you need to have an acceptance letter from a DLI approved by a provincial or territorial government. In addition to the Study Permit application, we assist students in choosing the best programs and DLIs for their academic, financial, personal, and professional goals (see Other Services).

Post-Graduate Work Permit

A post-graduation work permit (PGWP) is a legal document that gives you permission to remain in Canada and work full time for up to three years after you graduate from a designated learning institution. The length of the work permit depends on the length of your program. You do not require a job offer to apply and do not need to work in a specific field.
PGWP is a great mechanism to increase your eligibility for permanent residency! With a Canadian educational credential, you will improve your competitiveness in the Express Entry immigration system and you may even be eligible to apply directly to a Provincial Nomination Program. Once you obtain skilled work experience in Canada, you may also become eligible to apply for permanent residence directly to the Canadian Experience Class program.
